Brows are all the rage recently and at first I felt a bit overwhelmed by all the products available, but through trial and error I think I have finally found what works best for me. Since then there have been many products that I have tried, so when I picked up the June issues of InStyle and Elle magazine with these freebies. I thought I’d give you the rundown on what I thought.
First let’s talk about the Eyeko Brow Gel (free with InStyle). I have only ever tried 3 other brow gels and decided that they weren’t for me. But this one, is different. It isn’t thick like any of the others I’ve tried and almost has a watery texture and dries to what I can only describe as a multidimensional tint. As far as I have found, this particular product only comes in one shade and isn’t available online right now, but here is the Eyeko website which does a similar one.
There are some really good ingredients such as Gingko Kilaba and Keratin to help the brows grow. As I’ve only been using this for the past couple of weeks, I’ve yet to see any difference but if any miracles happen, I’ll let you know.
The brush is a really good size to distribute the product evenly throughout the brows and although on the brush it does look like it has a shimmer, this doesn’t transfer when you use it. Hence the multidimension effect it gives, making them look more natural. The one qualm I have with the brush is the tip of the brush picks up too much product which can be a pain. Other than that, this coupled with the other product I’m about to tell you about is a winner.
Elle magazine teamed up with Benefit to promote their new brow range and gave readers a chance to get their hands on their Goof Proof Brow Pencil in either shade 2 or shade 6 of their 6 colour shade range available. Their full size one is 0.34g, the one I got with Elle is 0.11g and doesn’t have a spoolie on the end which you would get with the full size. I got shade 2 which is lucky because it works perfectly for me right now. I swatched it on my arm and wasn’t impressed and then I used it on my brows. It is amazing! It takes half the time to do my brows than it did before and as the wax is designed to stick to hairs and not the skin your left with a really natural filled in eyebrow. Then teamed with the brow gel, my brow game is on top form. (Till it runs out). The Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil retails for £18.50, definitely up there in price. Judging by this tester I got, I think it would definitely last a few months so isn’t that bad. It depends on how your relationship with your brows is.
