Being such an impatient person is probably one of my flaws, so when this Violet Voss Holy Grail palette became available on Beauty Bay a few weeks ago, it was already mine. Violet Voss have come under a lot of scrutiny lately because their palettes are made in China. They aren’t the cheapest, so I can see why people were a but peeved when this came out. Although, some people did overreact. It’s only makeup..
The packaging is really slimline and the palette is nearly the same size as an iPad mini. When I received it, it came packaged in bubblewrap and then had the box on the outside. Because it is so small, there isn’t a lot to protect the shadows, so I’m still being careful when I use it. One thing that has annoyed me is the writing has already started to rub off the front of my palette, which I’ve used a handful of times and always put away in the box. Also, the packaging is a bugger for cleaning as it gets dirty so easily.
You can see from the swatches below that the pigmentation is amazing, even with the mattes. There are a good range of colours ranging from white to red to orange to brown. I have been gravitating towards the 2nd and 4th row as I find these colours a bit easier to work with. What I love most about this palette is the names. Makeup is fun and sometimes people take it wayyy too seriously. The only thing I would say about this palette is nothing that I have come across before and that is how some of the shadows can blend together and look muddy and not nice. I haven’t experimented enough with this yet to talk particulars, it’s just something I’ve noticed.
The Violet Voss Holy Grail Palette is nice, I just don’t know whether its £35 nice?.. I think there are other brands that have these colours and one that springs to mind is the Makeup Revolution Neutrals vs Newtrals Palette (post here if your interested). I will obviously use this and see how to get the most out of it and maybe it will become a fave in the future? We’ll just have to wait and see..
