Huda Beauty Rose Gold Palette | Review & Swatches

Huda Kattan resides in Dubai and started out her empire by creating luxury mink false lashes, making millions in the process has branched out into liquid lipstick and more recently eyeshadow. The Rose Gold Edition palette contains 18 shadows, housed in cardboard packaging, a clear lid and comes covered in an outer sleeve. For the price your paying, I personally would have expected a bit more.

Since it’s release, there have been literally thousands of negative reviews saying the quality of the shadows aren’t worth the price. As I am easily influenced by the youtube/blogger community, I decided to pass on this on it’s initial release. However, after some more research I decided to bite the bullet and add this to my collection, as I don’t own anything that resembles a palette containing these shades.

What you get

The Rose Gold Palette has an excellent variety of shades to choose from. You can go for a muted pink all the way through to a rich brown and even red if it takes your fancy. I’d say there are only 3 or 4 shadows that are a bit rough in texture. These are – Bossy, Suede, Maneater and Coco – but these haven’t effected the way they perform on the lid in my opinion. Out of the 18 in the palette, 10 are matte. Yes, 10! Meaning you can create hundreds of different eye looks and not have to touch a single bit of shimmer.

Quite a few of the other reviews said the pigment or glitter shadows are quite hard to use. Personally, I find the best way to use them is with your finger or a very short dense bristled brush. Instead of swiping it on, pat gently until you achieve the desired effect. I have also noticed they transfer to my upper lid quite badly after a couple of hours. But this might only be a problem for those hooded eyed gals out there.

Where to buy

I absolutely love this palette. I haven’t experienced any skipping or lack of pigment and all my eyeshadow looks have looked beaut. Admittedly the palette is very pricey at £56, but I don’t regret buying it one bit. All the colours are extremely wearable and you never know, you might experiment a bit more than would would have done without this palette in your life. It’s currently back in stock on Cult Beauty with free delivery – just in case…
