I know what your thinking. Another cushion foundation. How can there possibly be so many? Well… I went to an event at Debenhams last month and was able to redeem the cost of the ticket against products. Buying higher end foundations is something I have been getting more into. As I get older, the skin care benefits that you get in a higher priced foundation has become much more important to me than it once was.
This is the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion foundation. A few companies are quite literally recycling formulas and shoving them in a cushion, claiming they work differently or are a ‘new’ foundation. When clearly they’re not. It’s £30 for the whole thing including the foundation and then £19.50 for the infills. This is a great way of doing it, because no one is the same colour all year round. You just press the bottom and the insert pops out. The concept is really neat.
Having never tried the liquid version of this foundation, I had no idea what to expect. Shade 1 – Pure Porcelain is the lightest shade they do and obviously, thats the one I was matched to. It’s not the lightest of colours though. So definitely go and get matched in store before you buy.
You can use the sponge that comes with it to apply. All you do is press the product onto it and then tap onto your face. This gave the most coverage as apposed to a beauty blender or a brush. The most I got out of this was a medium, but it still managed to look really natural and lasted really well all day. I obviously can’t yet say how long this cushion foundation will last me. But I would assume if you clicked the lid tight you’d get around 6 months before it dried up.
A beautifully packaged product, that is a hassle free way of applying makeup on a daily basis. As for skin type, I couldn’t say who it would suit. It’s a kind of one fits all foundation with a slight glow to the skin. Go and have a look on counter to see for yourself. Your well within your rights to ask them to test it on your skin. I’ll leave it to you to decide.
Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation is available via Lancome for £30 inc compact or £19 for the refill.
