I love the Urban Decay Afterglow Blushers. They are so pigmented and beautiful to look at so when I saw they were bringing out a range of highlighters, I started to do a bit of research. There are 3 shades in the range; Sin, Aura and Fireball. Fireball is targeted at much deeper skin tones, so decided straight away that wasn’t for me. I looked at Sin for a while which is a Champagne gold shade, but after some research I found it is pretty identical to The Balm Mary LouManizer. So if you have that, you don’t need to get Sin. The last one was Aura. A very cool toned pink with a hint of purple undertone which is light enough for my complexion and perfect to add to my collection because I don’t own any pink highlighters.
The packaging I like, as it’s exactly the same as their blushes. Sleek, compact and feels robust. A nice added touch is you can see the colour of the product through the UD logo, making it easy to choose your shade without having to open anything. You get 6.8g of product for £19 which isn’t eye watering, but isn’t amazing value either.
Now lets get to the actual highlighter. The colour of this is actually really unique and i haven’t ever come across anything else like it. It almost looks violet when swatched and I suppose the name is perfect as to me, an Aura is a kind of purply pink glow and this is exactly that this is. It’s a very icy highlight – and a little really goes a long way.
When I first got it, I piled it on like I would any of my others and this was a mistake because it looked powdery and not how I expected it to. I put it on the shelf and tried it again recently but applied a very small amount and blended it out. This is what did the trick. My cheeks were glowing like a snow queen and in a good way. What I like is it’s not subtle but not over the top sparkle. I would say it’s more of a sheen, but intense at the same time. Does that make any sense?..
Sometimes it’s good to wait to write a review, because initially mine wasn’t going to be a very positive one. I’m pretty sure these are part of their collection now, so should hopefully come back into stock soon. I’ll leave the link to the Urban Decay website here just in case you fancy a gander.
